Description

Lightwaves FST time. :iconhurrplz:
This is the first time I’ve ever made one of these, so bear with me please. :P Lots of Techno will be involved here, along with a few non-electronic ditties that seemed to fit. Anyway, the music:

Daydreamin’ – Lupe Fiasco [link]
But I’d like to thank the streets that drove me crazy
and all the televisions out there that break me.

This was the ideal start for a Lightwaves FST, I felt – it’s basically a musical snapshot of life inside the three circles. The soft refrain of the song brings to mind the supposed “happiness/safeness” of life in Varuna, while the rap lyrics describe the true state of things, especially in the outer circle, with an accuracy that’s almost uncanny. Add in the electronic effects and can anyone else see Hanna looking out at the city to this song?

Starry Sky YEAH! Remix – Capsule x Daft Punk x Beastie Boys[link]
Ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out, wh-wh-wh-what’s it all about –
This song is one of the songs that always begin to play inside my head when I read action scenes in Lightwaves. The chaotic, energetic, wonderful meshing of beats and lyrics seems to fit the semi-grungy tacked-together nature of the Resistance and how they’d probably fight. Plus, if you listen to the lyrics of the individual songs you can match them to Hanna, Eli, and Veser without too much trouble.

Coloris – She [link]
Welcome to the Future.
Another kickass piece of music that fits in perfectly with fight scenes. Not only should this song have been on the Tron soundtrack, it should be in the Lightwaves soundtrack – it has that vibe of all-encompassing technology, with an overpowering hook that seems to suck you into the hivemind that the citizens of Varuna live in. Also – it’s She. She is awesome, is She not? :P

Voodoo Child – Jimi Hendrix [link]
Well, I stand up next to a mountain; I chop it down with the edge of my hand.
Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island; might even raise a little sand.

This song brings to mind Hanna and Veser; “I’ll give it back one of these days” definitely fits the desire for revenge that seems to shape them. Besides – Hanna’s got the voodoo/magic part down, while Veser’s half-selkie and therefore, at a stretch, a Voodoo Child himself. :P

Keyboard Cat – Bass Kleph [link]
Alternate song for the infiltration scene in chapter 14. Kickass everywhere else.

Children of the Revolution – T-Rex [link]
You can bump and grind…it’s good for your mind.
You can twist and shout…let it all hang out…
but you won’t fool the children of the revolution, oh no.

Worth, plain and simple. It’s dirty, loud, and demands a spot in your brain where it can kick its feet up and smoke cigarettes. The good old Doc might not drive a Rolls-Royce (and he sure as hell doesn’t care about his voice) but he’s there, and as long as he’s there you’re not going to mess with Hanna or anyone else in the Resistance. That’s his job, damnit.

Sympathy For The Devil – Rolling Stones [link]
I rode a tank, held a general’s rank
when the blitzkrieg raged, and the bodies stank…

Hmm…it was hard trying to pick a song for Abner and the Ahimsa, but this is what seemed to fit the best out of everything I found. The theme of the song – of being there in times of trouble and almost enjoying your part in it – just seemed to fit. Yeah…moving on…

Roxy – Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Soundtrack [link]
Epic music for the epic two-on-one battle between Cas, Finas, and Hanna. Extra points if you know the movie scene this is coming from and why it fits perfectly.

Mr. Cellophane – Chicago the Musical [link]
Mister Cellophane shoulda been my name;
Mister Cellophane
'Cause you can look right through me, walk right by me,
And never know I'm there...

While this can be a song for Eli, it can also be expanded to fit everyone in Varuna – everyone’s so similar in the city that you can simply blend into the background for your entire life and never be seen or heard of. Even if you wanted to stand out, nobody would really notice you and the Ahimsa would come and take you away before you ever really made a difference. Such is life in the middle and inner circles. Personally, I can picture Eli going through the motions of another day to this song.

Feed Me – Cloudburn (ft. Tasha Baxter) [link]
You never see the sky;
You live in a void.
Never go outside
Because you’re paranoid.
Cloud burning bright
The grey fills your head…

This FST needs some filthy bass up in hurr.
Ahem – sorry.
This is Conrad’s song, possibly sung by Toni – if you can survive the baseline and listen to the lyrics, it describes Conrad to a dime: the guy’s never really lived until now, when he’s not alive anymore. The instrumental bits can be the soundtrack to awesome vampire scenes, if you wish. And the title…explains a lot, doesn’t it?

Bump Uglies – Bass Kleph [link]
More dubstep/house for awesome scenes; you can choose to have it fit Ellis as he experiments on some poor Undesirable. It’s got that mechanical, chemical feel to it and Ellis seems like the kind of guy who would like this song. That’s probably not right, so don’t hold me to it.

Dog Days Are Over – Florence and the Machine [link]
She hid under corners, and she hid under beds;
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled…

No pun intended, but this is Toni’s song; this song seems like something she’d sing as a protest song. It also fits that period of her life where she tried to smother her werewolf-ness. The lyrics towards the end of the song bring to mind the scene from her interlude where she runs from the Ahimsa.

White Tiger No. 24 [link]
Lamont / Worth argument music? Maybe.

Kodo (Inside the Sun Remix) – Yoshida Brothers [link]
Veser dancing the Melbourne Shuffle to this. ‘Nuff said.

Roadhouse Blues (Remix) – The Crystal Method [link]
Keep your eyes on the road,
and your hands across the wheel
and roll, baby, roll. Let it roll, baby, roll.
All night long.

A high-tech delivery song for our favorite back-alley supplier Lamont Toucey. Oh, come off it – doesn’t this fit him perfectly?

EDIT - New music added!

1940 (Amplive Remix) – The Submarines [link]
So rise and rhine
Now’s the time to be alive, to stay with me a while
and smile.

Whenever I hear this song – or, more accurately, this remix – I think of Eli’s transition from Ahimsa agent to member of the resistance; the lyrics are perfect and the oddly aboriginal, yet electronic beat of the song brings to mind a harkening back to something both sad, wonderful, and natural. All in all, this song is guaranteed to have your feet tapping for a very long time and it fits an “awakening” perfectly.

Teeth – Lady Gaga [link]
Show me your teeth.
Yes, yes. It’s a Lady Gaga song – however, it also seems to fit Casimiro and Finas with its bass-heavy, almost patronizing tone; it eggs you on and gets progressively more energetic the more that you listen. It’s a good song for that kickass threeway battle, anyway.

We No Speak Americano – Yolanda Be Cool [link]
[insert heavily edited Italian…or something]
This song is grating, elating, bass-thumping, body-jumping, annoying, destroying…a perfect song for the fight scene in Chapter Seventeen. At least, it seems that way for me.

Smile – Vitamin C [link]
It ain’t easy; it’s so tough.
Put a smile on your face –
make the world a better place.

Oh come on. Is there a better song for Hanna out there? Upbeat lyrics about overcoming difficulty – check. Energetic beat – check. Hopeful tone – check. The singer even has orange hair and his style in clothing, for Chrissakes. :P This is a song that should automatically come to everyone’s mind whenever Undesirable Number One shows up; bonus points if anyone can imagine Hanna singing this at Eli or Conrad.

Kali Dance - Sanctuary [link]
Toniwolf song. Plain and simple.

Nowhere To Run – Stegosaurus Rex [link]
You’re gonna die.
Pick a convict character – any character. :P Personally, this seems to fit the scene with Lenore very well.

Grounds For Divorce – Elbow [link]
There’s a hole in my neighborhood down which of late I cannot help but fall…
Worth’s song right here. The dirty acoustic, the “fuck it all” attitude of the lyrics, the mentioning of selling other people out and the overall tone of greasy, pleased depravity matches the tone of our favorite doctor all too well.

Jumper – Capsule [link]
Yet more “Welcome to the Future!” techno for Chapter Sixteen and Seventeen. The oddly dysphonic interludes can fit into any Conrad x Misery pairing, as well as the gang’s attempts to get him back. Otherwise, it’s just a very good song.

Picture shamelessly stolen from *Hinabn- Lightwaves , music stolen from various playlists and Youtube videos. However, there’s no download service for this album because I can’t figure out how to do that. If anyone has suggestions for songs that should be added to this FST, just comment and I’ll add them in.

...a question: is there a link to download the whole track at once? like, a giant zip folder or something?
